(The story behind) Where the banners came from

Looking back at his childhood, Howard remembers two contributing things to this phrase.  1) the local donut shop, Dream Fluff, had a couplet on the wall “As you wander on through life brother, whatever be your goal, keep your eye upon the donut and not upon the hole”, and 2) a friend who loved to tell about how their Grandfather ended each meal, by bellowing, “By God, I’ve et!” and pounding the table once.

Those two memories must have rumbled together in just the right way, for 30 something years until May 18, 1995  when Howard looked up from his work and wrote a quick note:  “Behind these hallowed walls are et, the greatest pizza you can get”, and then added to the bottom of the scrap of paper:  “Weirdest thought of the day:”

Meanwhile in California, a young Michael Mike (aka Pesh) was practicing his drawing of scrolls and banners.

Howard posted the note on his bulletin board, and occasionally looked at it and laughed, but he was “one Pesh shy” of being able to complete his vision, until…

In 2002, Pesh started working at Flying Pie, and in 2004 Pesh painted some amazing scrolls for the doors of the Fairview bathrooms.  It took a couple of months for that to sink in and connect with the couplet on Howard’s wall, and then the two worlds collided, in a blinding Flash!

Howard’s initial part took 15 seconds.  Those 15 seconds, plus ten patient years, plus the Pesh sharing his hidden talents and then overcoming the challenges he encountered in using Envirotex for the first time (that is what the finish coat is), equals another Flying Pie success story detailing how we work together to achieve amazing results.
