Free Hugs shirts are also available
at both Flying Pie stores for $15 (small-xxl).
Howard, the ingenious owner of Flying Pie,
saw the video on YouTube.com
of a guy holding up a sign that said Free Hugs. Howard was inspired
to make Flying Pie shirts with the friendly offering printed on the front,
and we made it happen!

We’ve discovered that our Free Hugs shirts
are a specialized piece of clothing, like a raincoat or slippers, well
worth keeping on hand for specific situations. Everyone has somewhere
that feels safe to share this message.
The shirt is primarily a visual reminder
that we live amongst friendly people. You may have noticed some positive
effects created by just reading the shirt. We are interested in your experience
of our Free Hugs shirts—please share!!
Every so often the connection overflows
into an actual hug and that’s one more good thing for everyone.

Tracy (former Flying Pie-er): I love
the FREE HUGS shirts! When I got to town, I saw 3-4 of the shirts downtown,
but folks had back packs or turned so I never saw the FP affiliation.
Then when I went into State I saw
the table tents and got very excited. I love this
concept.

“How
’bout a hug?” As I walked out the office door to put some
things in my car, I had barely noticed the young woman standing out (in
more ways than one) in front of the shop next to ours: New Moon Tattoo
and Piercing. However, as I turned to go back inside, I heard her
question to me in a clear direct voice.
“Absolutely”
Realizing that I was wearing my FREE HUGS shirt, I responded immediately
and then turned to get a look at this person I had just agreed to hug.
I was pleasantly surprised to see that although she was certainly exotic
in adornment, she was also pleasant in demeanor.
She said “Really?”
We had a very nice, unhurried hug.
As we finished up, she said, “I
love getting hugs from people wearing FREE HUGS shirts.”
It was (to put it mildly) an unlikely
connection between two people who would seemingly have not much in common,
all made possible by a FREE HUGS shirt.

I have never been to Flying Pie Pizzaria
before and I’m not sure you will keep me away now. Love the Free Hugs shirts!
I was inspired by the video and held an all-day Free Hugs Spree! We made
signs and t-shirts…

An in-store customer was buying a
Free Hugs shirt…
Me: “So is this a present for someone
or is it for you?”
Customer: “It’s for me when I run
the Sawtooth Relay. It’s a big run up by McCall and everyone wears ‘different’
clothes. I thought this shirt would be fun to wear there.”

Customer Dustin to Mark: Do you remember
me?
Mark: Yes, you're Matt Fabbi's friend,
right?
Dustin: Yea, do you remember giving
me that Free Hugs shirt?
Mark: Yes I do. How’s it working
for you?
Dustin: Oh, it's amazing! I've been
flying helicopters to fight fires and in 7 months, 5 states, I've gotten
252 hugs! I keep track in my flight log.
Mark: Wow, I bet you feel loved.
